Nature Walk
Nature walk
Our class recently departed on a expedition throughout a trail near my school. For me, I enjoyed every second of it. Being with my friends, being out in the forest, hearing the ambience of the wind hitting the trees, the sound of the water, it was a very immersive experience overall. Very calming and the air was crisp.
The day, cold. The rain, tapping the window of my grade 11 English class. For Port Alberni in Late November, this is any normal day. But for our English class, it was the beginning of a great journey through the trails behind the Track.
As our class slowly stalked their way throughout the trail, slowly keeping a keen eye on the environment around us to spot any interesting plants, I felt stumped. I was looking everywhere, walking through little trails that broke off the main one we were walking on only to find a dead end with nothing interesting. But in the end, I didn't walk away unsatisfied and empty handed. During the walk, I noticed a plant that was everywhere. It was as if the entire forest we were walking through was just covered with this plant. I decided to scan it with my nature app. "Western Sword Fern" this was the culprit of the plant infestation. The only other plant I noticed lurking in the vast community of Sword Ferns, was a plant called the "Horse Tail." In the end, at least for the most part, I was left empty handed. The forest was bland, and so was the variety of plants.
